Js. 4:13-17, Here Today, Gone Tomorrow, Outline |
“Take-home” truth: Those with living faith humbly submit to God's will for tomorrow.
Introduction: James takes on the issue of practical atheism in our text today. By practical atheist, I mean someone who, in the day to day choices of life, does his own thing, with little or any consideration to the will of God, or even to the existence of God. Throughout chapter 4 he’s taking on our selfish pride in its many manifestations. By contrast, he labors in each section to demonstrate that those with living faith value humility. Today James will show us how humility will transform our pretentious worldliness, an attitude that acts as if God has nothing to do with our lives on a practical level.
